Grievance Procedures

Concerns and Complaints

Student Reporting

ITEA welcomes constructive comments from you on all aspects of its work. Such comments are carefully considered by the Faculty and Administration. When suggested changes are seen to be practicable and in the best interests of the school, every effort is made to implement them.

ITEA is aware there may be times when students wish to file an official complaint about unjust treatment, harassment, and/or health and safety concerns while on campus. This grievance policy was created to clearly outline the process for these instances to ensure that all of our students are heard and treated equally.

  1. Prior to filing a formal complaint, ITEA encourages the individual with the grievance to resolve minor disputes directly with the individual or parties involved with or without the assistance of one or more of the following: President, Academic Dean, Dean of Students and/or Clinic Director.

  2. If the informal complaint is not fairly and constructively resolved within 14 business days, the student may file a formal grievance.
Grievances may be filed either by using the online Grievance Form
or in writing by completing the Grievance Form and submitting it to the administrative office.

  3. Once the Grievance Form has been submitted, the Grievance Committee will thoroughly investigate the complaint, treat all parties fairly throughout the grievance process, adhere to a noretaliation policy, organize mediation meetings with appropriate parties, practice a high level of confidentiality throughout the grievance process, and ensure the final decision is implemented. A reply will be made in writing, within 30 days of receipt of the grievance, unless more time is needed. If more time is needed to fully investigate the grievance, the individual will be notified in writing.

  4. If after a decision of resolution has been made and the individual filing the grievance is not satisfied, they may request a hearing with the Grievance Committee within 21 days of receipt of the written response from the President. A Grievance Committee will be selected by the Board of Directors and be composed of a student, a member of the faculty and an administrator. The person filing the grievance must be present for this meeting either in person or remotely by video conference.

  5. If the individual believes the ruling is unresolved or unfair, they may choose to contact one or both agencies below:

    500 W. Madison, Suite 1576
    Chicago, IL 60661

ITEA Anonymous Reporting

To enhance communication and empower individuals to promote safety, security, and ethical behavior, ITEA constituents may use this system to anonymously report situations, events or actions by individuals or groups that may be viewed as unethical or otherwise inappropriate.

This reporting tool should not be used for immediate threats to life or property.
If a situation presents an immediate threat to life or property or a
crime is in progress, call 911.

Reporting duties of the Title IX Coordinator, Randi Savage, include the online Anonymous Reporting system through Microsoft Forms. The Title IX Coordinator will determine if new reports are Title IX related. If a report does not meet Title IX criteria, the Ethics Committee and ITEA Board of Directors will have further review of the report.

Anonymous Reporting

This service does not replace the existing State of Colorado Safe2Tell reporting method, provided for students, parents, school staff and community members to report concerns regarding their safety or the safety of others regarding other potentially illegal activities.
